Brown Mallee Burl (Eucalyptus dumosa, E. viridis) describes the incredible burl growths which form on any one of various Eucalyptus species grown in the Victorian Mallee region. These burl growths are difficult to source in enough quantity, rarely with enough to produce a drum, and are considered prized because of their incredible tight figure. At approximately 1050kg/m3 density, this is quite a hard density Australian wood.

Due to its scarcity, this timber will only be used for externals on Hybrids, select this timber for your next drum if you seek a unique example of an iconic Australian timber, especially rare given its figured feature. The internal wood you select will ultimately contribute most prominently to the tone of the drum.

Limited timber: There is only enough to make 2 hybrid snare drums.
