SHELL & HOOP INLAYS

In August-September 2022, Roger surprised Mat with his ability to create beautiful hand-made inlays for use on our drums. Since then, Roger has developed several styles for use on our shells and hoops.

Inlays are produced in small batches, there are no guarantees a previous one will be available. Roger creates them bespoke to particular jobs. Certain wood combinations could be requested, but ultimately every new inlay design will be stunning even if it remains completely the choice of Roger as he creates them.

Shell inlays are 9.5mm wide centred, hoop inlays are 6mm wide offset centre - a unique way for us to counter the unavoidable shine of the drum head’s flesh hoop.

Inlays are offered in the following options on snare drums and hoops, and at more cost across full drum kits:

  • Standard Horizontal Inlay (a single band of contrasting timber)

  • Standard Plus Horizontal Inlay (a single band of contrasting timber with another timber as hairline borders)

  • Marquetry Horizontal Inlay (Chevron, Spearpoint, etc.)

  • Abalone Plus Horizontal Shell Inlay (Abalone purchased overseas, subject to conversion rate and availability, includes hairline borders)

  • The same above inlays, installed vertically behind the badge instead, can also be discussed.
