WTS HARDWARE:

We first talked to Samuel at Welch Tuning Systems (USA) in August 2020, and for those who don’t yet know what they do - they devised an amazing cable and pulley system with a mechanism that tunes both drum heads up or down with a simple turn of a key - but not a drum key!!! So, if you don't like tuning drums, this system is very much for you! Or, if you just love exploring different drum sounds, this is also still for you - as a great creative tool in your music making!

So, aside from the ease of tuning, we were most keen to experiment with the Welch tuning system on our stave shells to see how the reduced mass (and of course lack of us interfering in the tuning process!) could pull MORE amazing sounds BEYOND what we have expected from our drums, untapped potential I guess...

Well, we are really pleased to say that the experiment has been very successful, and we are now proud to announce that we are partnering with Welch Tuning Systems to offer, our stunning solid stave shells, in all of our incredible timbers, with the WTS configuration!!!

Configurations:
We are offering all our usual larger standard shell diameters (10 through to 24 inches) with minimum depths of 7.5 inches. So if you were keen on a 10 inch tom for example, you could get it as shallow as 7.5 inches or as deep as it’s square size (10 by 10). Similarly with any floor toms, up to their square size and any 16 to 24 inch bass drums of sensible depths. We are focussing on toms, floor toms and bass drums, not snare drums.

The kit pictured above is the first of its kind in Australia, made from Fijian Mahogany in January 2021; we are so proud that Samuel mentioned it is by far one of the most stunning WTS kits he has seen yet.
