We consider this drum a part of our ‘new era’ collectibles. We feel these are particularly special examples of our craftsmanship as custodians of fine materials, punctuated by antique hardware including custom-plated fittings.

Australian Mountain Hickory Wattle (Acacia obliquinervia) is a timber, rarely commercially available, native to south eastern Australia. This timber features striking straight bold lines, which is also rarely found in this tree. At approximately 800kg/m3 density, this is on the harder side of the hardwood spectrum.

As a smaller body snare drum, it is more versatile than an equivalent 14 inch. Purchase this drum for mid to high range tunings. Tuned at its lowest it can produce a meaty thick musical note with some dampening assistance given it is a hard timber. As the drum is tuned up, the mid range ‘pop’ of the shell becomes apparent and a throaty crack and musical ping emerges.

Limited timber: Be one of only two owners to have a drum from this material.

Drum #601 built 16th July 2023. It has remained in Mat’s collection until now, before which time public exhibition of any Red Rock stock has not occurred.
