We consider this drum a part of our ‘new era’ collectibles. We feel these are the Rolls-Royce of drums with our marquetry inlays and wood hoops produced in-house by Roger. Marquetry inlays are produced in small batches, and no one will ever be the same as the next.
This is a wonderful example of brilliant Blackwood character flowing between staves, this drum features golden patches between the rich dark chocolate streaks. Blackwood is a well-known tone wood in guitars, and has become increasingly more known with drums in recent years. At approximately 640kg/m3, this is considered a medium density wood.
Purchase this drum for great versatility in a range of acoustic and mic’d up performance settings across all tunings. Tuned at its lowest, it is full and open, singing with beautiful musical note. As the drum is tuned up, the stick attack remains balanced with the meaty ‘pop’ of the shell and a warm snare clarity.
Drum #602 built 29th September 2023. It has remained in Mat’s collection until now, before which time public exhibition of any Red Rock stock has not occurred.
