Huon Pine (Lagarostrobos Franklinii) is native to the wet southwestern corner of Tasmania. This timber can be quite plain, however our crown cut selection features cathedrals in the grain. At approximately 520kg/m3 density, this is on the soft end of the hardwood spectrum.

Select this timber for your next drum if you seek warmth and roundness in acoustic performance settings. Tuned at its lowest, it is expected to be broad and open, singing with beautiful pitch. As the drum is tuned up, it is expected to have smooth stick attack that complements the shell’s ‘pop’ with a dry beady snare wire response.

Limited timber: There is enough of this material to make only x2 snare drums.
